Keep Your Property Safe from Ticks
Some useful ways that can help reduce ticks in your property include:
- Mow the lawn frequently to keep grass short.
- Remove leaf litter.
- Clear tall grasses and brush around homes and at the edge of lawns.
- Place a 3-ft wide barrier of wood chips between the lawn and wooded areas to restrict tick migration into recreational areas. Maintain a 9-foot distance between wood chips and living areas.
- Keep playground equipment, decks, and patios away from trees and tall grasses.
- Stack wood neatly and in a dry area to discourage rodents.
- Construct a fence to keep unwanted animals away from your lawn.
- Remove any old furniture or trash near the yard that can provide ticks with a home.
