COVID-19 Update – Monday June 1st
First let me express my profound sadness at the death of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis. I was horrified by the totally unjustified police actions that resulted in his death. I hope that all perpetrators are punished to the fullest extent of the law.
I am confident that an incident like this will not happen in West Windsor. To quote from the message from our police chief Garofalo to the community –
“I have also met with our African American Parent Support Group and have had serious conversations throughout the years about the police and its relationship with African American youth in West Windsor. We have worked hard to make sure our officers are seen as helpers and friends and this effort is ongoing and constantly evolves. I am thankful for the wisdom from both Joy and Latoya who are always welcome for coffee and a discussion on what we can do better.”

On the COVID-19 front, as the senior care facilities completed their testing as required by the state, we had a total of 5 new cases reported in the facilities within WW. We had no new cases in the community during the last 3 days. During this time, we cleared two individuals out of isolation. Our total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now up to 178 out of which 111 individuals are no longer symptomatic and cleared from isolation.
Today’s picture is of the empty Princeton Junction train station and captures my sorrow at the events happening around us. My next update will be on Wednesday.
Please stay safe.
