COVID-19 Cases Reported in West Windsor Residents - 771

(January 8, 2021 through January 12, 2021 (4:00 pm))

We took another step jump in daily case count over the weekend. Over the summer, we used to have 1-2 new cases per day, which grew to 3-4 new cases per day in late fall. In the last four weeks we have seen 7-8 new cases per day. Over the weekend we had 15 new cases per day. Today’s report is 12-16 days after a holiday, so it’s possible that the jump in cases could be the result of social activity during that period.

We collectively have sacrificed a lot during the past 10 months.  With vaccine administration under way, we have to hold on for a few more months. Once a sufficient number of people are vaccinated, the threat of rapid spread should decrease.

The Governor is currently only allowing those in 1A category to be vaccinated. The 1B category is quite large and includes many sub-categories. We expect the Governor will release 1B for vaccination in batches. We have no indication who will be allowed to go next. We have requested vaccine supply to a clinic in town. As soon as we get confirmation of the supply and understand the people who can be vaccinated, we will have a process to get them registered. Please register only if you qualify to be vaccinated. The best way to get the information is to monitor the township website, and to sign up for township email. I will post it on social media as well. Our attempt is to get as many people vaccinated as fast as we can. West Windsor has purchased a freezer to store all vaccine supply allocated to us. We have volunteers willing to help us vaccinate people. In short, we are ready when the time comes.

Thanks to Silvia Ascarelli for today’s picture along Canal Point Boulevard, a nice message of hope.

Please stay safe by maintaining your distance, wearing a mask, and washing your hands often. Please avoid crowds.  My next update will be on Friday the 15th.
