There will be no trash collection on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Trash will be collected on one day only for residents affected by these holidays.  All other residents will receive their normal twice-per-week collection.

There will be no trash collection on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. Collections will be made on the following day (Monday through Saturday) for these holidays.

Regular collection occurs on all other holidays.


The Township of West Windsor contracts with Waste Management for normal trash collection including household garbage, grass, empty latex paint cans*, bulk items, and white goods without refrigerants (bulk items and white goods see below). For trash collection questions and concerns, please call the Department of Public Works at (609) 799-8370.

*Latex paint only (empty cans or completely absorb paint with sand/kitty litter; place open cans on ground {not in cans or bags} for trash pick up.)  Paint Disposal information

This does not include recyclables, leaves, brush/yard debris & construction debris. For Recycling questions and concerns – see the Recycling section below, or contact MCIA Recycling at (609) 278-8086.

For disposal of railroad ties, residents should consult the Yellow Pages under “Recycling” for a private hauler.  Small construction materials and wood (landscape timber, pressure-treated wood , 2 x 4’s, etc.) must be cut into pieces no longer than 4 feet by 4 feet, all nails and/or screws must be removed or hammered down, bundled, tied, and put to the curb with your normal trash collection.  Wood bundles should be limited to 4-6 bundles per collection day.  For larger amounts of wood & construction materials, residents may wish to obtain a dumpster.  Please do not place wood in trash buckets or recycle buckets.

Limit 6-8 rolls carpet per trash collection.  For larger amounts of carpeting, residents may wish to obtain a dumpster.

Regular Household Batteries can be thrown in the regular garbage for disposal.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Garbage may NOT be put in Recycling Buckets

Place at curbside in CLOSED cans or bags AFTER 6:00 pm the night prior to collection or BEFORE 6:00 am day of collection.

Garbage cans shall not be more than thirty (30) gallon capacity and not weigh more than sixty (60) pounds when full. Plastic bags or liners that are securely tied at the top shall not exceed thirty (30) pounds gross weight. When disposing of heavier materials, such as soil or grass clippings, double bag if necessary.

Furniture, bedding, large household items, small appliances, carpeting (max. 4 ft. length - rolled & tied).

Mattresses & Box Springs can be put out for regular garbage collection, however, mattresses larger than a twin MUST BE folded in half and tied.


Waste Management will collect grass with regular trash in closed plastic bags or containers. Please make sure that no yard debris is mixed in with the grass. Grass Clippings only (no twigs, soil or yard debris), garbage collectors will not pick-up under these conditions.

Contact Public Works, 24-Hours in advance, to arrange for curbside pickup. Effective the week of Monday, May 30, 2016, the weekly collection day will change from Tuesday to Friday.  If the collection day falls on a Holiday, it will be picked up the previous business day.  Any calls received after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday will be added to next week's list.  Items must be at curb by 7:00 am the morning of the arranged pickup. Feel free to call after hours and leave a message with your name, address and telephone number with a brief description of item(s) for collection.

Doors must be removed from refrigerators and freezers before placing at curb.

White Goods pick up subject to weather conditions.


For houses, put items at the curb. For condos, put items next to recycling bins.
