West Windsor Announces Redevelopment Public Meetings
West Windsor Township Council President Linda Geevers and West Windsor Planning Board Chairman Marvin Gardner announced that three joint open public meetings of the Council and Planning Board will be held in September. At each of these meetings, one of the finalist redevelopment planning firms will give a presentation after which questions may be asked by the public and members of Council and the Planning Board. These meetings will be televised on West Windsor Government Channel 27.
Council President Geevers stated, “These meetings are intended for all to better understand the qualifications of the candidate planning firms. This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to participate in a key part of the process to select a planner.” Following these meetings, the Search Committee will make a recommendation to the Township Council of one firm to perform the planning.
The schedule for the meetings is Wednesday, September 20, Street-Works LLC; Monday, September 25, Michael Graves and Associates in partnership with Duany, Plater-Zyberk and Company; and Wednesday, September 27, Hillier Architecture. All meetings will be held in the Township Council meeting room at the West Windsor Township municipal building and will begin at 7:00 PM. Each firm will have up to one hour for its presentation and then the meeting will be opened up to questions from the public.
Marvin Gardner, Chairman of the Planning Board and a member of the Search Committee stated, “The opportunity for the public to hear these planning firms make in-depth presentations and for the public to query these planners on crucial issues related to the redevelopment is a vital component of the selection process. The Search Committee will carefully evaluate the responses to these questions before arriving at a decision.” Anyone wishing to provide input to the Search Committee can send their comments to the attention of the Mayor’s office.
