West Windsor Shade Tree Committee to Host
Annual Arbor Day Celebration
Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh is pleased to announce that the West Windsor Shade Tree Committee will once again host its annual Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 21 at 10:00 AM at the Ronald R. Rogers Arboretum on the corner of County Route 571 and Clarksville Road. West Windsor Township has achieved “Tree City USA” status for 27 years (through 2005) and anticipates being certified as a “Tree City” for 2006 by the National Arbor Day Foundation. The Township has celebrated Arbor Day for 28 years, if not longer, and 2007 will be the 29th year for Arbor Day.
The celebration will feature a number of participants including musical selections from the Community Middle School, Boy Scout Troop 40 posting the colors, and Casey Schoenholtz from Girl Scout Troop #1625 leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Tree seedlings will be offered free by the Shade Tree Committee and refreshments will be provided by McCaffrey’s Supermarket.
Winners of the Arbor Day Art Contest will be announced and cash awards ranging from $20 to $100 will be presented to the top four finalists from grades K to 3 and grades 4 to 5. Each of the winners will present their winning entry to the public.
The rain location for the Arbor Day celebration is the West Windsor Senior Center located on the municipal campus at 271 Clarksville Road. For questions, please contact Sue Appelget at the Municipal Building at 799-9448.
