West Windsor Township Announces
Receipt of a $20,000 grant from the NJ Department of Community Affairs
For Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities
West Windsor, N.J. -- West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh today announced that the Township has received a grant in the amount of $20,000 from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to develop recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. According to Mayor Hsueh, the Township sought the grant funds due to a “demonstrated need” within the West Windsor Township area to expand recreational programs for disabled residents, especially children. After meeting with selected parents, Ken Jacobs, West Windsor Township’s Manager of Parks & Recreation, began working on related initiatives in conjunction with the Township’s Recreation Commission.
The grant will allow West Windsor Township Recreation to offer such programs as Adapted Aquatics, Therapeutic Equestrian Program, Adapted Multi-Sports Clinic, Adapted Martial Arts, Social Events and more. Planning for these programs is currently underway. Mayor Hsueh stated, “I would like to acknowledge the State Department of Community Affairs for sponsoring this grant program and enabling West Windsor to expand its recreational program offerings to individuals with special needs.”
Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the West Windsor Township Recreation Office at (609) 799-6141 for more information or visit the Recreation Division Website at www.wwparks-recreation.com.
