West Windsor Announces Halloween Parade and
“War of the Worlds” 70th Anniversary
Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh has announced that West Windsor Township will be sponsoring a Halloween Parade and a “War of the Worlds” 70th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, October 25 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This family event will take place at Van Nest Park located off of Cranbury Road in West Windsor. Van Nest Park is adjacent to Grover’s Mill Pond, the site of the famous Martian landing as told by Orson Welles during his radio broadcast in 1938.
Residents are asked not to park at Van Nest Park since parking is very limited. Parking will be available at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South. Shuttle busses will take participants to and from Van Nest Park starting at 1:30 PM and continue through the duration of the event. The festivities will kick off at 2:00 PM with a brief ceremony commemorating the 70th Anniversary of “War of the Worlds.”
The Halloween parade, which will be held within the park, will begin promptly at 2:15 PM. All participants will receive a goody bag. Crafts, rides and music will be available free of charge after the parade. A concert, sponsored by the West Windsor Historical Society, featuring the Cranbury First Presbyterian Church Brass Band, will begin at 3:00 PM.
Mayor Hsueh stated, “I would like to thank the West Windsor Recreation Commission and Historical Society for sponsoring this event. I am looking forward to seeing all of the children in their Halloween costumes.”
