PNC Bank will no longer pay for credit card fees associated with the payment of taxes and sewer rent effective January 1, 2011
West Windsor, N.J. – Effective January 1, 2011, PNC Bank, West Windsor Township’s official depository will no longer pay for credit card fees associated with the payment of taxes and sewer rent.
The Township was officially notified on October 1, 2010 in a letter to the Chief Financial Officer. According to the letter, “A change in the New Jersey Government Uniform Deposit Protection Act requires financial institutions in the Government Funds business to significantly increase their reporting, monitoring and collateralization of your deposits. These changes dramatically affect the Government Funds business for financial institutions.”
The Township was advised that, “Effective January 1, 2011, PNC will no longer pay third-party expenses incurred by our customers, such as Payroll Preparation, Non PNC Merchant Services, Credit Card Interchange fees, Cash Services/Courier Services and Computer Services.”
West Windsor Township Administration is researching alternative, viable options. Please check the Township website, www.westwindsornj.org, after November 30, 2010 for the most up-to-date information.
