World Trade Center Steel Beam and 9/11 Photos are Donated to West Windsor Township 9/11 Memorial

West Windsor, N.J.  -- On Friday, September 10th, 7:00 PM, at the Twin Pond 9/11 memorial in West Windsor Township, a steel beam from the remains of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers and several photos taken during the aftermath of the attacks are scheduled to be unveiled.  Both will be on display at the memorial ceremony of the 9th anniversary of 9/11 honoring the memory of those killed when the Trade Center's Twin Towers collapsed.
The recovered beam was donated to West Windsor Township by the Jersey City Fire Department, of which West Windsor Councilman George Borek is a member. The 8 ton fragment of the Twin Towers was obtained earlier this year with the intention of placing it at West Windsor Twin Pond Memorial.

Another generous contribution this year is from world renowned photographer Danny Sze, a resident of West Windsor Township. His photo collection of Ground Zero at New York City titled, "Image of Courage," has been exhibited in galleries, libraries, hotels, firehouses and universities throughout the United States as well as Beijing and Guangzhou, China. A book of the collection was subsequently published to raise money for the victims of 9/11.  Different photos from the collection, now owned by the Township, will be exhibited every year at the Township’s 9/11 ceremony.

The two donations commemorating the lives lost, including seven West Windsor residents, was humbly received by Mayor Hsueh who is optimistic about getting future donations from businesses and individuals in order to erect the steel beam with a base foundation in time for the 10th anniversary in 2011.

“These additions to our memorial site will not just be about the horror of 9/11 and the heartbreak of what happened on that day, but also a remembrance of how the nation and the world came together to support one another. The donations themselves are also a testament of that spirit and I hope they will serve as an inspiration to others."
