West Windsor Little League to Play Ugandan Visitors
Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh and the West Windsor Little League are inviting area residents to attend a friendly game against a team from Lugazi, Uganda on Monday afternoon, August 27th at RJ Ward Field. The game is scheduled for 2:30 PM but may change to fit the visitors' busy schedule. Please check the website: www.wwll.org for updated information. West Windsor’s McCaffrey’s Market donated food to feed the teams. After the game, both teams will attend that night's Trenton Thunder game, where they will be honored before the game in pre-game ceremonies.
Lugazi won the Mid-East and Africa Regional Little League Tournament to qualify for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This is the second year in a row that a team from Uganda has qualified for the World Series, but last year's team was denied the experience in 2011 due to documentation issues.
Mayor Hsueh stated, “We are delighted to have West Windsor and the West Windsor Little League honored in this way. To have an international team visit us is very special. It should be a fun afternoon for all.”
Andy Lupo, Executive Board Member of the West Windsor Little League, added, “This will be a unique event in West Windsor history, one that we'd like to share with everyone in town, regardless of whether they're Little League families or not. Please come out to join us.”
Admission to the game at RJ Ward Field is free. RJ Ward Field is located on North Post Road near Indian Run Road. Driving directions are on the West Windsor Little League’s web site.
