West Windsor Township Submits Stimulus Requests
West Windsor, N.J. -- Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh announced that Stimulus requests were submitted to federal and state representatives February 23, 2009. Eight stimulus requests were submitted to Congressman Rush Holt and copied to other federal and state elected and appointed representatives. These included Governor Jon Corzine, Commissioner of the Department of Transportation Stephen Dilts, Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection Mark N. Mauriello, Executive Director of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission Barry Seymour and County Executive Brian Hughes all of whom will control the flow of stimulus dollars to New Jersey municipalities.
Mayor Hsueh stated, “ I have spoken with Representative Rush Holt and a number of state agencies about the needs of West Windsor. Many of our projects are ideal candidates for stimulus spending and benefit the state and region as well as West Windsor residents.” The top three requests were the Vaughn Drive Connector, County Route 571 improvements, and the Route 1 Penns Neck improvements at Washington Road and Harrison Road. In addition, Mayor Hsueh spearheaded a letter to Commissioner Dilts from area mayors from Lawrence to South Brunswick advocating that the Penns Neck Improvements be given a high priority in State infrastructure spending.
Finishing off the list of stimulus project requests were Municipal Facilities & Related Improvements, Township Wide Sanitary Sewer and Storm Sewer Infrastructure Improvements, Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Improvements, Homeland Security, and Redevelopment-Related Improvements.
