West Windsor Township Lowers Speed Limit on Village Road East
Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh announced today the results of an analysis performed by the Engineering Division of the Community Development Department. This analysis looked at existing road conditions along Village Road West, New Village Road, and Village Road East between Quakerbridge Road (County Route 533) and the Robbinsville Township border to determine appropriate speed limits. .
The speed survey supported the existing posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour (mph) for the section of Village Road West between Quakerbridge Road (CR 533) and Baxter Place.
For New Village Road, the analysis determined that the existing 35 mph speed limit met the requirements of a “residential district” as defined by New Jersey state law along the entire length of the road. A speed limit of 25 mph remains in effect when passing through school zones.
The section of Village Road East between Mercerville-Edinburg Road (Old Trenton Road–CR 535) and the Robbinsville Township border also meets the requirements of a “residential district.” As a result, the speed limit has been lowered from a statutory limit of 50 mph to 35 mph.
Mayor Hsueh stated, “The safety of our residents throughout the Township has been one of my primary initiatives as Mayor. Along with the intersection safety report of last year which is now being implemented, review of speed limits and other safety factors within the Township will continue.”
