New Partners for Smart Growth
12th Annual Conference
West Windsor – Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh has been invited through Smart Growth of America (SGA) in Washington D.C., a national organization to promote smart growth in land use planning, to attend the New Partners for Smart Growth’s 12th Annual Conference. As one of 28 Local Leadership Council Advisory Board Members of SGA and the only member from New Jersey, Mayor Hsueh has been asked to speak at the conference on, “Transit Oriented Development Planning in West Windsor”. The conference is scheduled from February 7th through February 9th in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mayor Hsueh has also been invited to participate in the New Jersey Future Annual Redevelopment Forum
on March 1st, as one of the panelists in the session “Understanding the Fiscal Impacts of Redevelopment”.
Mayor Hsueh graduated from National Taiwan University with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, and came to the United States in 1969, earning a M.S., M.Ph., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical/Environmental Engineering from Rutgers University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, a Registered Professional Planner, and a Certified Public Manager.
Dr. Hsueh had been an adjunct professor at Rutgers from 1978 to 2003. He registered with the township government in 1986 to serve on the Board of Health and Environmental Commission.
Prior to being elected Mayor he was a member of the Township Council from 1993 until 2001, serving four terms as Council President. Mayor Hsueh retired from NJDEP as the Administrator of the State Water Supply Program in 2002.
Currently Mayor Hsueh is serving in his 3rd term as Mayor of West Windsor Township while maintaining positions as Board Member on the State Planning Commission, State Water Supply Authority, Robert Wood Johnson Health Care System at Hamilton, and Local Leaders Council, Smart Growth America.
