Canal Pointe Boulevard Reconstruction To Begin On or About Thursday, March 9th
West Windsor announces that tree clearing and roadway reconstruction work along Canal Pointe Boulevard and Wheeler Way, between Emmons Drive and Alexander Road, will commence on or about Thursday, March 9th, weather permitting.
This project will provide for the implementation of the “Road Diet” based on the Canal Pointe Boulevard Road Diet Study dated March, 2015 prepared by the Burns Group. The Road Diet will reduce the total number of travel lanes from four (4) to three (3) with one travel lane in each direction and a central left turn lane, along with six (6) foot wide bicycle lanes. Improvements will also include sidewalk repairs and accessible ramp upgrades, with upgraded crosswalks with flashing beacon warning systems. Finally, two (2) proposed bus stop bump out locations will also be constructed along the west side of the road.
Beginning on or about Thursday, March 9th the work will commence with clearing of trees along the corridor that are heavily damaged and in decline due to the emerald ash borer (see prior announcements about this pest and tree work). The project will then progress into concrete work and repairs, including drainage, then to roadway repairs and resurfacing. Total project duration is ninety (90) days, weather permitting. Work will occur with partial lane closures in one or both directions, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Delays during this time are to be expected.
Please honor all signage and temporary traffic control measures for your own safety and the safety of others.
