Grover Mill Pond Dredging and Community Park
Visitors to the Community Park are advised that a fence has been erected for the Grovers Mill Pond Dredging project. The area enclosed will encompass the containment of the dredged material, the heavy equipment, and the trailers out of which the contractor will work. It is important to keep visitors to the park safe from this activity. The total area required for the project and access to utilities necessitated impact to the north side of the park trail. There will be a detour provided with signage and new macadam on the east side of the fence leading to the parking lot. This should be completed in the next three to four weeks. The parking lot is already connected to the west side of the fence by an interior macadam trail. The Township is also looking to mow along the fence and through the woods to reestablish a cross country circuit.
Within the fencing, the ground will be moved and contoured into the containment area. The containment area will occupy all of the ground on the pond side of the macadam park trail with the trailers and staging area across the park trail. The contours of the containment area will go from at-grade near the Trolley Line Trail to possibly 24 feet high on the pond side. Once the dredging has been completed, the fence will be withdrawn to the other side of the park trail to keep the containment area secured until the dredge has dried for approximately one year.
The schedule currently calls for containment area construction from May until August. Mobilization for dredging equipment is scheduled for the beginning of August. The dredging itself should take until late October. Demobilization of equipment and site restoration is scheduled for November.
