In cooperation with West Windsor Township, the West Windsor Parking Authority recently awarded a contract for remediation and paving of the Township’s long-abandoned “compost site” off of Alexander Road. This project will provide approximately 650 new parking spaces that will accommodate Township residents and occasional commuters.
Initial project staging and clearing of site vegetation has been completed in preparation for construction.
Starting Monday, September 17, between 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM the contractor will begin a process known as “deep dynamic compaction” to provide a suitable foundation for the parking surface. This process involves a crane dropping a heavy weight onto the property. The compaction will take approximately five to six weeks weather permitting. Vibrations from this activity may be felt in the vicinity of the project and will be closely monitored for compliance with allowable standards. The compaction is necessary for any future construction on the former landfill property.
Subsequent construction activities will include storm water management, paving, lighting and landscaping with completion targeted for early spring.
